Abstract:
Objective To observe the relationship between prognosis of acute chemical poisoning and acid-base balance disorder among victims.
Methods Totally 105 cases of acute chemical poisoning during 1990-2009 were studied retrospectively. The relationship between some indexes such as pH value,PaO
2,PaCO
2,multiple acid-base balance disorders and prognosis such as death, organ damage and APACHE Ⅱ score was evaluated.
Results All dead cases showed the abnormality of pH value,PaO
2,or multiple acid-base balance. The cases with abnormality of these indexes had more serious multiple organs damage and their APACHE Ⅱ score showed significant increment. The cases with severer carbon dioxide retention (PaCO
2>6.0 kPa)had more serious multiple organs damage.
Conclusion Acute chemical poisoning may cause abnormality of pH, hypoxemia and multiple acid-base balance disorders, which results in severe consequences by affecting prognosis. However,it could provide reference for the early treatment.
