Analysis of the influencing factors and risk nomogram model of reproductive tract infection of female workers in petrochemical industry

  •   Objective  To establish a nomogram model of reproductive tract infection risk of female workers in petrochemical enterprises, and to analyze the influencing factors in this industry.
Methods  A total of 5 186 female employees of a petrochemical enterprise were investigated by field and questionnaire surveys to analyze the occupational hazard factors of petrochemical enterprises, the fatigue of female employees and the incidence of reproductive tract infection. Multivariate logistic regression and nomogram prediction model were used to reveal the risk factors and influence degree of reproductive tract infection.
Results  Totally 5 132 valid questionnaires were recovered (98.96%). The main occupational hazards in this large state-owned petrochemical enterprise include organic solvents, dusts, toxic gases, electromagnetic radiation, noise, etc. Totally 1 241 female workers (24.18%) had reproductive tract infection in recent 6 months. Logistic regression analysis showed that 10-19 years of service time, occupational exposure to hazards, drinking habits, premature or late menopause of maternal relatives, breast tumor, physical and mental fatigue were the risk factors of reproductive tract infection(OR =1.300, 1.220, 1.363, 1.384, 1.864, 1.515, 2.049, P < 0.05). The C-index of the nomogram model of reproductive tract infection among female workers in petrochemical industry based on multivariate regression results was 0.626(95% CI 0.608-0.644).
Conclusion  The reproductive health of female workers in petrochemical industry was affected by many factors, such as bad lifestyle, heredity, exposure to occupational hazards, fatigue and so on; the nomogram prediction model has good accuracy and discrimination, and is helpful to improve the evaluation efficiency of occupational reproductive health risk. The corresponding management measures, precaution and occupational health education should be taken to reduce the prevalence of female workers' reproductive tract infection and promote their occupational health.
