Clinical manifestation of liver damage caused by acute arsine poisoning

  • Objective The clinical manifestation of liver damage caused by acute arsine poisoning was reported,so that more attention can be paid in the future. Methods The clinical data of liver function indexes and liver B ultrasonic examination of 28 patients with acute arsine poisoning were systematically evaluated. Results ALT,AST,TB and IB were found to have increased on the first day of poisoning.AST,TB and IB reached peak values on the third day while ALT reached the peak on the fifth day. Then they gradually recovered within two weeks. The abnormalities of liver function indexes and liver B ultrasonic examination were much higher among 15 severe cases compared with 13 mild cases (P <0.05),except that there was no difference of IB between them.4 mild cases were diagnosed as acute toxic hepatopathy (3 cases with mild and 1 case with moderate degree) while 14 severe cases were diagnosed as acute toxic hepatopathy (2 cases with mild degree,4 cases with moderate degree and 8 cases with severe degree). Conclusion The patients with acute arsine poisoning had liver damage in the early stage of poisoning, even the poisoning degree was mild. The degree of liver damage was in accord with poisoning degree and the prognosis of liver damage was good.
