Investigation on brucellosis among occupational population in Guoyang County of Anhui Province during 2014 to 2015

  • Objective Serological monitoring on brucellosis was carried out among occupational population in Guoyang County of Anhui Province. The epidemic of brucellosis cases was surveyed to provide scientific orientation for the prevention and control of brucellosis. Methods According to the surveillance standard for brucellosis,blood samples of professionals or staff related to sheep farming were collected for rose-bengal plate agglutination test (RBPT) and standard-tube agglutination test (SAT) during 2014 to 2015. The epidemic of diagnosed cases was surveyed. Results Totally 42 cases were diagnosed as brucellosis among 406 monitoring subjects. The main signs and symptoms of brucellosis cases were fever, muscle and/or joint pain and fatigue. The major complication was orchitis. The attack occurred throughout the year and there was no seasonal variation. Acute onset mainly occurred during May to June. The occurrence had no significant variation among groups with different gender,age and job category(P>0.05).The fresh men seemed to have higher infection rate(P<0.05). Conclusion We should pay attention to brucellosis infection in this county and more intervention measures should be taken.
