Investigation on poisoning emergency response capacity of centers for disease control and prevention in Jiangsu Province

  • Objective To understand the poisoning emergency response capacity of centers for disease control and prevention (CDCs) in Jiangsu Province.

Results It showed that 86.5% of CDCs established emergency teams for poisoning incidents, 38.7% of CDCs set up expert database on emergent poisoning, but 82.9% of CDCs didn't collect the local data of production and storage of toxic and/or dangerous chemicals; 81.1% of CDCs established independent reserves of emergency supplies, however, only 1.8% of CDCs stored detoxification drugs; 92.8% of CDCs had ability to detect common toxicants; 28.8% of CDCs equipped with rapid detection equipment for occupational poisoning; 21.6% of CDCs established the risk assessment system of poisoning incidents.
