Hearing loss analysis of 879 noise-exposed workers

  • Objective  To investigate hearing loss status of noise-exposed workers, to analyze the related risk factors and to provide scientific basis for control of noise hazard.
Methods  A total of 879 noise-exposed workers who had taken occupational health examination in a hospital from Jan. 2015 to Dec. 2017 were studied. The results of pure tone audiometry, exposure data and other personal data of these workers were collected and analyzed.
Results  There were 739 male workers and 143 female workers. The average age was (36.51 ±4.12) years old with the average occupational exposure time of (9.65 ±2.25) years. The pure tone audiometry examination showed that 35.60% male workers were abnormal, significantly higher(P < 0.01) than female workers(16.78%). With the increase of age and exposure time, the rate of hearing loss increased gradually(P < 0.01).
Conclusion  The hearing loss of these noise-exposed workers was severe and strict control measures should be taken.
